Ward Christmas Party

This year I was in charge of our ward's Christmas party. I really believe that the Christmas party should be a special event and nicer than other parties or activities throughout the year. My good friend Hillary is a decorating genius so I asked her to do the decorations and she blew me away! We did a sit down dinner with long tables and we had the youth serve the food. Everyone had a fantastic time and I was so proud of my ward and their support. We had the party of December 5th from 4-6 and we really stressed that we wanted it to be on time and everyone was! It was amazing and shocking! Since I was recently called to be the Young Women's President for the ward, I was also in charge of training the youth on how to serve and I was so proud of them being willing to help out. It was a little overwhelming how much help I had, but I was so thankful for them. We had a dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, and desserts! We bought spiral sliced ham and asked a few people to cook them for us. Matt and I decided to make all the mashed potatoes so that they were consistent. We ended up peeling, cooking, cutting, boiling, and mashing 60 pounds of potatoes it was an all day affair! We had the rolls and desserts be potluck. My friend Linda was in charge of the entertainment and she had people in the ward share their musical talents and she did a nice nativity story. I also like that she had us write what we would give Jesus this Christmas season. It was a wonderful evening and hopefully I'm not in charge next year. ;)

It was a long day for Coop- he passed out thanks to our friend Emily

December 5th was the eve of St. Nicholas Tag- so we made sure to leave our shoes out that night and this is what we woke up to in the morning!
