Virginia Christmas 2013

I'm finally getting around to blogging about Christmas in Virginia. Mainly, because I have zero pictures from my camera, they are all on Matt's computer. We had a great time with Matt's family, it is such a different experience being around brothers, it is so chill. Some fun things we did while there are of course celebrated Christmas, went bowling, had lunch with college friends, ate so much(too much) good food, and celebrated NYE.

NEW YORK BABY!

A few weeks ago Matt and I had opportunity to go to New York. My sister Allie was in town for a school event,so we decided since we live so close we should do a weekend trip. We left early Friday morning and spent the whole day in NYC! We met up with allie and headed straight over to the shake shack. Two of our(allie and me) favorite bloggers have eaten here,so we were excited to taste it for ourselves. It was heaven! It wasn't the perfect day to explore, but we enjoyed walking and walked ALL day! One thing Matt really wanted to do was to ice skate in Central Park. We hadn't ice skated since before we were dating,so it was fun to have that experience together married. We also got a NY slice and dirty water dog. We had a blast and we enjoyed doing a quick trip together!

we had just seen the secret life of walter mitty

Resolutions 2014

I really liked writing my goals on my blog last year, because it kept me accountable,so here they are.

Physical- Run a 10k
Spiritual- Magnify my calling/really befriend the ladies I work with
Mental- Be happy!
Emotional-Serve More

We finally had one goal Family Home Evening were we talk about the goals we made the last year and how we improved or didn't and then set new ones. I love this FHE, it makes me realize that I'm doing a lot of good things in my life, but on the other hand I still have a lot of room to grow and that is really exciting to me!  That is one of my favorite things about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- it a church of progression, we are encouraged to always be improving and changing! One of my favorite quotes from the book The Happiness Project, "We are happy when we are growing." I have come to realized that this is a true statement and I did a lot of growing over the last year and I did feel happy at the end of the year knowing that I kept all my resolutions not perfectly but I did them all year! I'm excited for a new year and more growing!

Last year's couple goals and how we did:

- Visit/Home teach every month: A/B-
- Do a random act of kindness every month for our spouse: C+
- Lose weight: A
- Pay off BYU loan: C-

Bright Nights

This year we went to Bright Nights. It's a Holiday light display that you drive through. We were kinda nervous, because we had been told that it would be really crowded and we would be stopped for long periods of time, because it was the Friday before Christmas but it was excellent! We invited our friends the Bowens and we packed chips and salsa and candy canes( I know its a weird combo). It took about 30 minutes to see all the different displays and it was laid out really nicely. They also had a Christmas radio station you could tune into, but it didn't really match up to any of the lights. So next time I would just choose my own station, because theirs had a lot of ads. I really liked the different arches you drove under to go to a different themed section. It was a fun date!
