Golden Birthday

I know I have been talking about my golden birthday non stop,but it only happens once in a lifetime. So I'm milking it alright?!

I had a friend party on Friday and it was the best party I have ever had. All my friends got along and it was just great being able to chill and have a good time hanging out. We did a nacho bar and had cupcakes. I made all the decorations gold and glittery. My favorite thing I made by far were some 23 candles. I also made some bunting that said Happy Birthday! It turned out so cute! I used the bunting and some wrapping paper I found at the dollar spot from Target to make a cute photo booth. I was really nervous that it would be weird to have a photo booth,but I loved being able to take pictures of all my guests,so I'll have these memories forever.

For my actual BIRTHday on Saturday, I slept in. I woke up to balloons and lots of presents from Matt! I love my birthday it is my favorite holiday and I love having a whole birthday week if I can get others to go along with it. Matt could care less about his birthday and presents,but he is very giving and loves to shop for me,so it makes my birthday extra special, which I'm so grateful for. Anyway I opened all my presents and had breakfast with Matt. We then watched a movie until we were ready to go out to lunch at Tucanos( an all you can eat Brazilian BBQ) there was 90 minute wait,so we walked around a candy shop and then went to Target to spend some time. Finally it was time to eat and we ate SO MUCH,but it was so worth it. We came back to our apartment and tried to recover from all the deliciousness. We needed the night by going to the aunt session of stake conference and getting a cupcake. It was a great Golden weekend!

Valentine's day

I was really excited to celebrate valentine's day this year,because last year I was so sick I didn't even know what day it was when it happened. We try to keep the presents pretty simple, so Matt got me chocolate and BEAUTIFUL flowers! I told him I didn't want roses,just something pretty and he did such a great job! I gave Matt an all orange present that had a card that read aren't you glad I love you? I forgot to get a picture before Matt started eating it,but it had: orange tick tacks,orange gum,trail mix,orange vitamin water,orange post its, and pb cups. On February first all the way up to the 14th I put a love note on the door for Matt listing one of the reasons I love him. We love doing love notes for each other,so it was fun to do one everyday for 2 weeks. For the actual day we decided to stay in and I made heart shaped pizza. I also made sugar cookies to give to my vtees and my friends.We had a day date planned for Friday,but I ended up having to sub for a friend,so we postponed until Monday. We went to a late lunch at Texas Roadhouse and then went to see Safe Haven. It was a really nice weekend.

$aving$

This past weekend we scored some major deals! If you like eating out at all you should sign up for restaurant's email clubs. It's kind of annoying getting emails from restaurants,but when they have good deals it so worth it. Anyway this weekend I got an email for buy one get one free at noodle's and company,because it had been so snowy out. So Friday night,we went to noodles and I wasn't in the mood for pasta so I asked if I could exchange it for the soup and wrap. The guy let me and he put the more expansive meal as the free one so we ended up getting what we both wanted with 2 drinks for only $10! Then we had a redbox code(because of signing up for texts/emails) and got our movie for 75 cents. Then on Saturday we went to In N Out with a giftcard we had and only had to spend $1 for our meal. My favorite surprise of the weekend was when we went to Old Navy. I had a gift card in my purse for a while,because I thought it had only a $1 or 2 on it,but surprise it had $50!!! So I got new jeans and leggings and I still had $25 to spend! Boo yah! Just in time for my birthday! It was such a fun weekend!

Goals 2013

I know it's the middle of January already but I wanted to do a post about our goals for 2013. There are two traditions that Matt and I do for the new year. The first is we do is a new year's interview. It is meant for kids to see how they change over the years but I think it's fun to see how Matt and I are changing every year. The second tradition we do is we do a family home evening where we talk about goals and we make goals we want to achieve as a couple and we also tell each other the goals we have made for ourselves.

2012 Goals:
Only eat out 4 times a month...... C
Go to the temple once a month......A-
Be healthier/ go on 3 walks a week.....B
FHE every monday at 7pm.....B-
Read a Book of Mormon chapter every day.....A-

I saw one of our friends grade herself on how well she did on her goals and I really liked that idea and it goes perfectly with this quote I found.

So even though we didn't get straight A's on all our goals we did have a great year together! We are looking forward to an even better 2013!

Crunchy Asian Salad

We love this meal because it is quick,healthy,and so easy! I don't know where the original recipe came from,but here is how we make it.

Ingredients:
Salad-
Shredded Cabbage
Sliced Almonds
Ramen noodles (we use chicken flavor)
1-2 Chicken breasts

Dressing-
Vinegar
oil
lemon juice(we sometimes use lime)
sugar
salt
flavor packet from Ramen noodles

Directions:
1.Cook chicken and season then shred.
2. Toast sliced almonds.
3. Crush dry Ramen noodles
4. Combine cabbage,almonds,ramen noodle,and chicken in a bowl. Mix it up!
5. In another bowl mix up the dressing.

We don't know really use measurements when we make salads. For the dressing it is all about how you like it.
Tonight when we made it we used half a bag of cabbage for the salad and for the dressing we used 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 and half Tbs sugar, and lime juice, 2-3 Tsp oil and salt to taste. Hope that helps!
